About the Journal

FOCUS AND SCOPE
Journal of Integrated Science and STEM Education (JISSE) publishes original scholarship in natural sciences, applied sciences, mathematics, science education, and STEM education. Topics include physics, chemistry, biology, earth and environmental sciences, mathematics and statistics, interdisciplinary science, scientific inquiry, laboratory and field methods, technology and engineering in STEM contexts, curriculum and assessment, teacher education, digital tools, equity and inclusion in STEM, and learning across school, university, and informal settings. Empirical, experimental, theoretical, review, classroom-based, and interdisciplinary work is welcome when its contribution is clear and its methods are rigorous.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The editor screens each submission for scope, completeness, originality, and ethical compliance. Suitable manuscripts proceed to double-anonymous review, normally by at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers assess the contribution, methods, evidence, interpretation, presentation, and research ethics. The editor considers the reports and communicates a decision to the author; revisions may undergo further review. The editor makes the final decision and manages conflicts of interest. Reviewer identities and unpublished material remain confidential.

PUBLICATION ETHICS
Authors must submit original work, acknowledge all sources, avoid plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and inappropriate image or data manipulation, and obtain permission for reused material. All listed authors must have made a substantive contribution, approved the final manuscript, and agreed to submission; changes to authorship require an explanation and the agreement of those affected. Authors must disclose funding, competing interests, relevant ethics approval or exemption, informed consent where applicable, and material use of generative AI. AI tools cannot be authors, and authors remain accountable for their work.
Editors and reviewers must preserve confidentiality, evaluate manuscripts fairly, disclose conflicts of interest, and recuse themselves when impartiality is compromised. Reviewers must not use unpublished work for personal advantage. Concerns about research misconduct or publication ethics will be assessed fairly, with an opportunity for the parties to respond. The journal may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction when warranted, and will keep the scholarly record clear. Authors may appeal a decision by providing a reasoned explanation to the editorial office; an editor without a relevant conflict will evaluate the appeal.
